I am a scientist by training (Ph.D. in Cell Biology) who after several years in biomedical research decided to trade her lab coat and pipette for a laptop, an ergonomic keyboard and a stack of dictionaries.
I have been working as a freelance translator since 2007 and specialize in medical translations, in particular instructions for use for medical devices, in vitro diagnostics and pharmaceuticals; clinical study protocols and reports, patient information and continuing medical education for physicians. I also have extensive experience with quality management documentation, corporate communications, public relations and marketing materials.
In addition, I have been the German translator and reviewer of content and grammar for News in Slow German, a German language program, since it started in 2016.
I particularly enjoy translating marketing and advertising texts that challenge my creativity.
As a member of the United Nations volunteer network, I am a long-time translator for an NGO that represents the interests of the African diaspora in Germany.
I am a German native with dual citizenship and have been living in Boston, Massachusetts since 1995. I am an ATA-certified translator from English into German.
